Keynote Speaker: Prof. Tok Wang Ling

National University of Singapore, Singapore

 

Dr. Tok Wang Ling is a professor in Computer Science Department at the National University of Singapore. He was Head of IT Division, Deputy Head and acting head of the Department of Information Systems and Computer Science, and Vice Dean of the School of Computing of the University. Before joining the University as a lecturer in 1979, he was a scientific staff at Bell Northern Research, Ottawa, Canada. He serves/served on the program committee of more than 160 international database conferences including VLDB, CIKM, EDBT, ER, DASFAA, DOOD, DEXA, CoopIS, DOLAP, DaWaK, ADC, BigComp, etc. He organized and served as a program committee co-chair of 6 international database conferences, namely DASFAA 1995, DOOD 1995, ER 1998, WISE 2002, ER 2003, and ER 2011. He organized and served as a conference co-chair of several conferences and workshops, namely HSI 2001, 2003, and 2005, WAIM 2004, ER 2004, DASFAA 2005, DASFAA 2006 (Honorary Chair), SIGMOD 2007, VLDB 2010, DASFAA 2014 (Honorary Chair), BigComp 2015. He serves/served on the steering committees of 5 international conferences, namely ER, DASFAA, DOOD, HSI, and BigComp. He was the steering committee chair of both ER and DASFAA. He is currently the steering committee chair of BigComp. He is an editorial board member of the several international journals, namely Data & Knowledge Engineering, Journal of Database Management, Journal of Data Semantics, Journal of Information and Data Management, Journal of Computing Science and Engineering (International Advisory Board member). He is an ER Fellow, an ACM Distinguished Scientist, IEEE Senior Life Member, and Fellow of Singapore Computer Society. He received the ACM Recognition of Service Award in 2007, the DASFAA Outstanding Contributions Award in 2010, and the Peter P. Chen Award in 2011.

 

 

Keynote Speaker: Prof. Hee Yong Youn

Sungkyunkwan University, Korea

 

Hee Yong Youn received the BS and MS degree in electrical engineering from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea, in 1977 and 1979, respectively, and the PhD degree in computer engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, in 1988. He had been Associate Professor of Department of Computer Science and Engineering, The University of Texas at Arlington until 1999. He is presently Professor of College of Software, Sungkyunkwan University, Suwon, Korea, and Director of Ubiquitous computing Technology Research Institute. He was also Consulting Professor of Software R&D Center, Device Solutions, Samsung Electronics and IBM Korea. His research interests include distributed and ubiquitous computing, IoT, and intelligent system. He has published numerous papers in int'l journals and conference proceedings, and received Outstanding Paper Award from the 1988 IEEE International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems, 1992 Supercomputing, and 2012 IEEE Int’l Conf. on Computer, Information and Telecommunication Systems, 2014 The 6th International Conference on Cyber-Enabled Distributed Computing and Knowledge Discovery, respectively. Prof. Youn has also been General Chair of IEEE PRDC 2001, Int’l Conf. on Ubiquitous Computing Systems (UCS) in 2006 and 2009, UbiComp 2008, CyberC 2010, Program Chair of PDCS 2003 and UCS 2007. Prof. Youn is a senior member of the IEEE Computer Society.

 

 

Keynote Speaker: Prof. Shigeo Akashi

Tokyo University of Science, Japan

 

Shigeo Akashi was certified as a Ph.D. holder by Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1987 and he is now a professor at Tokyo University of Science. He was the chair professor at the Department of Information Sciences at this university from 2015 through 2016. As for the academic and educational activities, he has been a member of the Experts Committee leading scientific education for Japanese senior high schools, which is authorized by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japanese Government since 2016. He is interested in the interdisciplinary research area ranging from applied mathematics and information sciences. As for the aspect of applied mathematics, he was an invited speaker in Asian Mathematical Conference which was held at Busan City in Korea in 2013, and moreover, he was a member of Scientific Committee for Asian Conference on Nonlinear Analysis and Optimization which was approved as a satellite international conference of International Congress of Mathematicians 2014. As for the aspect of information science, he has been certified as Distinguished Cisco Certified Active Instructor by Cisco Networking Academy, which is administrated by Cisco Systems, since 2012, and moreover, he was awarded 2018 APSCIT Fellowship by Asia Pacific Society for Computing and Information Technology. His joint research work with RKC Instruments Co. Ltd., which is the largest company in all Japanese companies producing temperature-measuring instruments, named as "An algorithm for discriminating the inside of a closed curve from the outside" has been approved with Patent ID. 4760768 by Japan Patent Office attached to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japanese Government in 2011.

 

Plenary Speaker: President, Chair Prof. Han-Chieh Chao

National Dong Hwa University, Taiwan

 

Han-Chieh Chao received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, in 1989 and 1993, respectively. He is currently a professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Dong Hwa University, where he also serves as president. He was the Director of the Computer Center for Ministry of Education Taiwan from September 2008 to July 2010. His research interests include IPv6, Cross-Layer Design, Cloud Computing, IoT, and 5G Mobile Networks. He has authored or co-authored 4 books and has published about 400 refereed professional research papers. He has completed more than 150 MSEE thesis students and 11 Ph.D. students. Dr. Chao has been invited frequently to give talks at national and international conferences and research organizations. He serves as the Editor-in-Chief for the Institution of Engineering and Technology Networks, the Journal of Internet Technology, the International Journal of Internet Protocol Technology, and the International Journal of Ad Hoc and Ubiquitous Computing. He is a Fellow of IET (IEE) and a Chartered Fellow of the British Computer Society. Due to Dr. Chao’s contribution of suburban ICT education, he has been awarded the US President's Lifetime Achievement Award and International Albert Schweitzer Foundation Human Contribution Award in 2016.

 

 

Plenary Speaker: Assoc. Prof. Kai Qin

Swinburne University of Technology, Australia

 

Kai Qin is an Associate Professor at Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia, currently serving as the Program Leader on “Data Analytics” in Swinburne Data Science Research Institute (DSRI), the Leader of DSRI’s Machine Learning and Intelligent Optimisation Research Group, the Director of Swinburne’s Intelligent Data Analytics Lab, and the Course Director of Swinburne’s Master of Data Science Program. Before joining Swinburne, he worked at the Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), the University of Waterloo (Canada), INRIA (France) and RMIT University (Australia). His major research interests include Computational Intelligence, Machine Learning (incl. Deep Learning), Optimisation (incl. Evolutionary Optimisation), Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Time-Series Analysis, GPU Computing, Services Computing and Mobile Computing. He won the 2012 IEEE Transactions on Evolutionary Computation Outstanding Paper Award and the Overall Best Paper Award at the 18th Asia Pacific Symposium on Intelligent and Evolutionary Systems (IES 2014). One of his conference papers was nominated for the best paper award at the 2012 Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference (GECCO 2012). He is currently co-chairing the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) Task Forces on “Collaborative Learning and Optimization” and “Multitask Learning and Multitask Optimization”, and also serving as the Vice-Chair of the IEEE CIS Neural Networks Technical Committee.

 

 

Plenary Speaker: Assoc. Prof. Wei Wang

Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, China

 

I received my PhD degree in Computer Science in 2009 from the School of Computer Science, University of Nottingham, and BSc degree (1st class Hons) in E-Commerce and Digital Business in 2006 from the School of Computer Science at the same university. Currently I work as an associate professor at the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. From Nov, 2011 to Nov, 2013, I worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at University of Surrey, United Kingdom. From July, 2009 to November, 2011, I was an assistant professor at the School of Computer Science, University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus. My research interests lie in the broad area of Data and Knowledge Engineering, in particular, knowledge discovery, semantic search, ontology learning, service discovery and ranking, Internet of Things, big smart city data processing.

 

 

 

Invited Speaker: Dr. Bin Xue

National University of Defense Technology, China

 

Bin Xue is working in National University of Defense Technology. He receivedthe B.S. degree in computer science and technology from the Zhongnan Universityof Economics and Law in 2013, and the M.S. degree and Ph.D. degree ininformation and communication engineering and electronic science and technology from the Airforce Engineering University, Xi'an, China, in 2015 and 2019, respectively. He has been selected as ACM member, IEEE member, IEICE member, and AAAI member. He is the Committee member of ICMCCE2019, ICETIS2019,CVIDL2020, ICAIE2020, ICBDIE 2020, And has published several articles in IEEETransactions on Cybernetics (SCI Area I, impact factor 10.387) and other topinternational journals.
